I made this painting several months ago. It is drawn mostly with Sharpie markers, and shows the most well-known towers in San Miguel de Allende.
These photos are from the cool, artsy store on Zacateros street. Everything there was a work of art, including items for sale as well as the decorating.
I took a lot of photos on my walk this morning. While walking down Zacateros street I discovered this really cool store that was over-the-top gorgeous and artsy. I particularly like this photo that looks like an abstract work of art. It is actually a sculpture hanging from the ceiling in front of a window. I then played with it in Photoshop. Here are some of the best ones.
Today I spent a very enjoyable morning in the San Francisco Gallery. We had a beautiful model, Lilia Garcelon. We started out with quick gesture drawings and gradually increased the time for each drawing. We spent almost an hour on the final drawing. Here are some photos of my final drawing..
One of the things that I have really enjoyed here is taking classes at the Van Doren Metal Art Workshop. The Van Dorens are a father and son who have years of experience making metal art and are now teaching it to others. Today, I attended my fifth workshop and made two tables. The first table was inspired by one that I saw on the internet. I changed it a little so I think that I can say that it's my own design. The second table with the blue top was inspired by a scrap piece of metal that my instructors had in their studio. Both pieces involved plasma cutting, welding and grinding.
I am a retired marketing professor from the United States, now living in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. I bought a house and moved in one year ago, and I've been having a great time. I love my house, the city is really beautiful and the weather is fantastic. My house is in the neighborhood called "Colonia Guadalupe." One reason I wanted to live in this neighborhood is because of the cool murals that we have here. Here's a picture of me in front of my house.
